Congratulations to the 2009 Rib Cook-Off Winners!
A smokin’ good time was had at the Sixth Annual Rib Cook-Off during the California Antique Farm Equipment Show on Sunday, April 19, presented by Cool Hand Luke’s Steakhouse in Tulare.
Barbeques lit-up on Sunday morning with 16 teams competing to see who could prepare the best beef or pork ribs of the California Antique Farm Equipment Show.
It took six hours for each team to prepare their ribs for the judges and only 30 minutes for the ribs to be evaluated. The panel of judges, three per category, and their assistants evaluated each rib for appearance, tenderness and taste, using an official rib cook-off scoring sheet.
When the smoke settled three entries in each category were selected as the best of the contest. Winners in each category won $1,000 for first place, second place took home $500 and third place received $250.
